Dennis Hitchcox
Guitarist, Composer, Arranger
Northeast Ohio
About
By studying guitar compositions in various genres, Dennis Hitchcox has shaped his guitar style into his own unique approach to guitar music. Combining his jazz schooling in Ohio with many great influences and his decades of west coast jazz experience, his finger style approach to jazz returns the grooves of 60's cool jazz and soul. His musical adventures also entail Django Reinhardt tribute bands, rock bands, jazz orchestras and traditional big bands.

As a composer, Dennis has been writing and producing music since the early 1990's as a multi-instrumentalist, band member and as a solo guitarist. He was awarded the Ruth Friscoe Award For Best Big Band Composition in 2000 and has written music for the Raining, Bert Crudd and the Salmon Nation Artists Project. Over the years, his guitar has supported fellow Portland artists such as Andy Sheldon of the Samples, the NoPo Big Band, Hammerhead, Daniel Parker of Hunzer B. and Hunter Paye of Folkrum.
Dennis has contributed music to communities all over the Pacific Northwest and has been a music educator in the Portland area for decades. A recent transplant back to Ohio from Portland, he still performs all around Ohio as a solo guitarist or sitting in with a jam session somewhere.
